Booking Website Documents Customer Calls

Haunted Hotel
The Australian: There’s always a risk booking a hotel room, but it's not every day you find yourself sharing with an adult film shoot or a ghost.

These are some of the complaints and excuses received by hotel booking website Wotif.com taken from its almost 400,000 calls a year.

Aside from the raunchy photo shoots and paranormal activity, another guest decided to cancel because she thought she had stayed in the hotel in a previous life.

Another caller blamed her cat for entering the wrong booking dates, saying it walked on her computer keyboard, and a man claimed his four-year-old child committed fraud by using his credit card to process an online booking.

Confusion was also common amongst callers, with one woman baffled by mysterious booking made on her credit card under her partner’s name at hotels she had never stayed at.

Another caller needed help typing in her credit card details, finally realising after 10 minutes that the “num lock” key was turned off.

It wasn’t just the nature of the calls that left hotel staff shocked, with the location of the calls also surprising.

“Our customers call for all sorts of reasons, and from all sorts of places, but we’re always surprised by the amount of people that actually phone from the toilet, that’s impressive multi-tasking,” Wotif spokeswoman Megan Magill said.
